Not all CO.CC domains are free, in fact, most aren't. You have to pick something relatively obscure, such as (if your name were Daniel Jackson) djackson.co.cc. These types you can usually pick up for free. If you want a platform on which domains are more likely to be free, use CZ.CC. Only a few of their domains are "premium", and go for $4.95.

lol Funny story about Godaddy: I registered a domain with them once, using fake info. They picked up on it though, and I have not been able to buy a domain with them since. They just say that the transaction didn't go through, or something like that. It's really too bad, since they often have good deals going.

You clcik on the link provided in the first message of this thread. There you are presented with a form that shows WWW.[a blank box].Co.CC. Fill in the name you want to try in the blank box and click the button "Check availability". Worked OK for me.
